The church was founded as a small group, meeting in a home. As the church grew, the group purchased property at 27 Fourth Street, Laurel, Maryland for its first worship facility. On June 30, 1988 the church incorporated under the name Apostolic United Pentecostal Church Inc.

Rev, John M. Overton & family elected as pastor in October 1994. The Overton’s, moved to Maryland and assumed duties January1, 1995. The church had an average attendance between 15 and 25 people. The church building was in desperate need of repairs, so the group began to raise funds and began remolding the church building. As the church grew it was also able to complete the remodeling of the building which would seat approximately 150 people, with additional Sunday School and fellowship space. By 1997 the church had tripled in attendance and by 2002 the church had reached its capacity. Due to the over crowdedness of the building and the impact of the church upon the community the decision was made to sell the present property. The church sold the property on July 15, 2002.The proceeds used to purchase a new church property located at 12511 Old Gunpowder Road, Beltsville, Maryland.

The church moved to Laurel Woods Elementary School and continued to hold services until the new church was finished construction. The church was completed in September 2007 and the church moved in to its new facility. At this time the church began trading as Cross Creek Apostolic Church.

Presently the church is located on 6.25 acres in the beautiful Cross Creek subdivision of Prince Georges County. The sanctuary seating capacity is 476 with additional classroom and office space. Plans for future expansion include an educational building that will include a gym, commercial kitchen, day care facility, classrooms, and offices. Due to the construction in the neighborhood the official address of the church was changed by the county and is now 12511 Old gunpowder Road Spur, Beltsville, Maryland 20705.
